What Is Hyper-Saturation LUTs
A LUT that pushes color channels past their legal limits, creating unnaturally intense hues or clipped highlights.

How to Spot Hyper-Saturation LUTs

  • Blown-out reds, greens, or blues with no detail in highlights.
  • “Posterized” skin tones or skies that break into solid blocks of color.

Causes of Hyper-Saturation LUTs

  • Over-aggressive LUT design or incorrect input/output color space.
  • Applying a cinematic LUT to footage that’s already highly graded.

Fixes for Hyper-Saturation LUTs

  • Pre-linearize footage: convert to log or linear before LUT application.
  • Use a color-space transform node (e.g. ACES) to clamp extreme values.
